Annual Gathering of EWC Alumni and Friends in Washington, DC
A group of Washington, DC-area friends, including a number of EWC alumni, enjoyed a multi-course Chinese dinner marking the Lunar Year of the Dog. The venue was Mark’s Duck House, a famous Hong Kong-style restaurant in suburban Falls Church, VA.
In the photograph are some of the alumni at the dinner (left to right): Jerome Weingart, Jaswinder Brara, Mike Anderson, Alan Miller, Zenny Logue, Tim Logue, and Anny Wong (who organized the annual gathering). Others at the dinner included former grantee Steve Olive, Sara Banaszak, Michele Kayal, and former EWC Alumni Officer Gale Awaya McCallum
EWCA Chapter Report Highlights for October 2015

Highlights include the following:
There is a great buzz regarding the 2016 EWCA International Meeting in Manila! Nine chapters reported they were sending representatives. There may be more, but this is the count received in the reports. These include the APLP, ASDP, several members from the Bangladesh Chapter, others include Faisalabad, Korea, Mumbai, New York, Okinawa, and Singapore.

Pakistani Journalists Talk at EWC in Washington
Mr. Muhammad Ejaz Khan, Ms. Mehmal Sarfraz and Mr. Kamal Siddiqi, participants in the East-West Center’s US-Pakistan Journalists Exchange, discussed rising extremism in Pakistan and the role of the media with Dr. Satu Limaye, director of the East-West Center in Washington.

The title of the presentation from the Pakistani journalists was “Rising Extremism in Pakistan: Perspectives from the Media“.
During their visit to Washington, D.C., the Pakistani journalists also had a chance to visit important landmarks.
