EWC Senior Staff Visit New Delhi, India Chapter

Twenty-one EWC Alumni and several spouses gathered for dinner and discussion with Dr. Satu Limaye, Director of the EWC in Washington, on 28 January. In addition to the latest news about the Center, the group discussed the contributions that can be made by the India alumni, as well as the planning of future activities in India.

In February alumni met with Dr. Scott A. MacLeod, of Leadership Programs, to discuss future Leadership programming in India and other countries in Asia.

An East-West Center Gathering in South Asia

Dear EWCA Alumni,

The East-West Center will hold its International Media Conference in New Delhi, India on September 8-11, 2016 with the theme “South Asia Looking East.” The Center’s last International Media Conference was held in Yangon, Myanmar in 2014 and drew more than 400 attendees including journalists, policymakers, business professionals and EWC alumni.

SPAN Magazine Features the East-West Center

SPAN magazine ObamaSPAN Magazine is a publication produced and maintained by the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.  Since 1960, SPAN has linked India and the United States, offering articles from writers in both countries on culture, business, technology, education, health, social development, arts and achievements in U.S.-India relations.

Mike Anderson, a former East-West Center Ph.D. grantee and a former publisher of SPAN, authored the article Spanning U.S. and India:  Two 50-Year-Old Ideas Still Work to Promote Exchanges, which features the East-West Center and its role in fostering not only friendly relations between India and the U.S. but also between the East and the West.
