Congratulations to Mr. Innes-Brown in his appointment as Australian Ambassador to Iran.
Prior to taking up his position as Ambassador to Iran, Mr Innes-Brown was Australia’s Ambassador to Iraq, a position he held since August 2006. Prior to this appointment, he was the Head of the Iraq Task Force during 2005-06. In Canberra, he has held a range of positions including Director, Indonesia Section and Director, East Timor Section (2003-05). From 2001 to 2003, Mr Innes-Brown was seconded to the International Division of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet where he worked on South-East Asia and Americas policy issues.
During the years 1991 to 1993, Mr. Innes-Brown completed a Master of Arts in Political Science at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa through the East-West Center’s Program on International Economy and Politics. The EWC Graduate Degree Fellowship provides funding for graduate study to participate in educational and research programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study at the University of Hawai‘i. The types of study covered under the Graduate Degree Fellowship are the Master’s (up to 24-month fellowship) and the Doctoral degree (up to 48-month fellowship).
