Rakib Hossain (ADB 06, AFF 08) has joined the United Nations as an International Civil Servant the professional category this 2011. He and his wife, Syeda Hadi (also an EWC alumna, GDF 04-06), are currently living in the European headquarters of the U.N. in Geneva, Switzerland.

Rakib participated in the Asia Development Bank Scholarship Progam, which is a graduate degree fellowship that provides support for graduate (post-baccalaureate) studies in approved fields of study at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa (UHM), and for participation in educational activities at the East-West Center (EWC). Rakib’s field study was Urban and Regional Planning.

The application process was very rigorous and took over 2 years. Rakib is curently working  in the Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) in Geneva as a Programme Auditor.

Congratulations to Rakib on his appointment!
