EWC Volunteers Needed for Hawai’i Public Radio’s Fundraising Campaign

East-West Center volunteers are needed on Tuesday, October 20, from 2:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. to participate in Hawai‘i Public Radio’s (HPR) semi-annual fundraising campaign. The East-West Center and HPR have had a strong partnership over the years, and Center specialists and staff are often interviewed for HPR news stories.

This will be our seventh year supporting this fundraising effort, which has provided a good way for the Center to increase its visibility throughout the state while at the same time rendering meaningful community service. Frequent references to our international team of EWC volunteers and about the Center itself are made during this broadcast, which attracts HPR’s largest daily listening audiences.

Karen Knudsen, Director of External Affairs, will be the lead representative in the live broadcast. We also need eight EWC staff and student volunteers to answer phones. EWC student volunteers can apply this service towards three hours of their community service requirement.

To volunteer or for more information contact:

Floren Elman-Singh, EWC Public Information Specialist or call (808) 944-7193.

Let us know if you need transportation from campus and if you are registered to drive the EWC van.

Event Location: Hawaii Public Radio KHPR (88.1 FM), 738 Kaheka St. #101, Honolulu (near Ala Moana Shopping Center and across from the Don Quixote store – formerly Daiei).

A big MAHALO to all the volunteers who gave of their time to support this community service project in previous years!
