Thank you East-West Center Alumni!
A Challenge Grant from McInerny Foundation (Bank of Hawaii, Trustee) has helped to increase alumni giving, especially from individuals who had never given before.
Alumni responded to the challenge by donating $274,476 — a significant increase compared to previous years, making it possible to reach 79% of the $20,000 matching goal. The matching portion of $15,888 represented gifts from 195 alumni in 18 countries, 161 of whom had not donated to the EWC before, and 34 of whom increased their previous donations by at least $100.
Gifts were received from alumni in Australia, Brunei, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam.
Twenty-five or almost 50% of the EWCA chapters participated in this challenge. A free registration to the 2010 International Conference will be given to three winning chapters based on the following criteria.
- Highest total donations received – Hawai‘i Chapter
- Highest number of donors – Tokyo Chapter
- Highest amount of matching funds – New York Chapter
