Inauguration of Obama: What Can We Tell Our Children?

January 20, 2009, Inauguration Day

My Dearest Children and Grandchildren:

Today, we witness the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. Our new President stood with dignity before the world. He reminded Americans when darkness pressed on our ancestors, they did not falter. They sacrificed to give us the land and a better life–our mutual inheritance.

Barbara Bornet Stumph (ISI ’65-66, OG ’90), current EWCA Northern California Chapter Leader, wrote a letter to her children and grandchildren on her reflection of the inauguration of President Barack Obama. Her piece was published on the George Mason University’s History News Network website on February 27, 2009. Click here to read the entire letter.
